Treating TMJ and Craniofacial Patients Without the Right Support

If you are a physical therapist treating craniofacial patients, you know how isolating this niche can be.

You may be the only person in your clinic, or your region, seeing this population. There is no colleague down the hall who treats the same patients. No one to call when a patient with complex needs walks through the door.

The craniofacial patient population can be challenging: persistent pain, psychosocial complexity, and referred symptoms that do not respond to standard approaches.

Many PTs finish their DPT without directly working with a patient with craniofacial issues. For a population where up to 50% of people experience TMJ-related issues, there is a clear issue with access to care.

So you do what most dedicated clinicians do. You search online, piece together information from general PT resources and forums, and hope what you find is evidence-based. It rarely feels sufficient.

And without a mentor, a community, or a clear path forward, it can be hard to know where to go from here.

PTBCCT is here to support you. You are not alone in this journey. And you do not have to keep figuring this out by yourself.

Every craniofacial, cervical, and TMJ question that you have been holding on to deserves an expert answer and expert support.

How PTBCCT Changed Their Practice

Growing a Private Practice Through TMJ and Craniofacial Care

❝ I spent years treating craniofacial patients feeling like I was the only one doing it. When I found this community, everything shifted. I eventually built my own private practice focused entirely on TMJ and craniofacial disorders, at nearly double my previous rate, with a six-week waitlist. I genuinely do not think I would be where I am without the people I met through PTBCCT.❞

Support for Complex Craniofacial Physical Therapy Cases

❝ When I started treating craniofacial patients I had no one to call when I got stuck. I was piecing things together on my own and hoping for the best. Having access to other therapists who treat this population, who you can actually pick up the phone and ask, changes the way you practice. It changed mine.❞

Finding Community in Craniofacial and TMD Physical Therapy

❝I remember what it felt like to sit with a craniofacial patient and not have the answers. Finding a community of people who understood this work, who were asking the same questions and pushing each other to be better, was genuinely a turning point for me. This field can feel very isolating. It does not have to be.❞

PTBCCT is here to support you. You are not alone in this journey.

Your Craniofacial Physical Therapy Community Starts Here

Right now, there are patients who have driven long distances, seen multiple providers, and still have no answers. They are not looking for a general PT. They need a physical therapist who knows how to help them — one who has the education, the mentorship, and the expertise to do what most PTs cannot.

That physical therapist could be you.
